Epicor Insights, the annual Epicor customer conference, was recently held in Nashville, TN and we’re still excited about all of the information we picked up while we were there. For example, as an Epicor ERP resller, we knew Epicor has recently put more focus on SaaS ERP, but at Epicor Insights we discovered that Epicor’s very, very serious about the cloud and they’re doing it a little differently than other ERP publishers. Here’s what we learned:
In 2012 Epicor acquired Solarsoft Business Systems. Initially, most of the hype around the acquisition was for Solarsoft’s Tropos process manufacturing ERP software and CMS automotive ERP for tier one and tier two automotive suppliers. But somewhat lost in that acquisition was Mattec (now Epicor Mattec MES), a manufacturing execution system (MES). But why is this important to you as a manufacturer?
This week on the blog we’ve been discussing the various educational and training resources available from Epicor to help companies get the most out of their Epicor ERP implementation, such as Epicor University and Epicor Knowledge Mentor. Tying everything together is workflow and business process flow chart software from Epicor partner XSOL.
XSOL InOrder is like using Visio to create flow charts but it’s a whole lot more than that. XSOL InOrder is an optional module for Epicor ERP but we personally feel that XSOL is required to ensure a Successful Epicor ERP Implementation.
As Epicor ERP consultants, we know that implementing the right ERP system is a business critical initiative, but we also know that system selection and implementation is only the beginning of ensuring you get the best possible ROI from your investment. Epicor training is crucial to make sure your entire organization knows exactly how they are expected to use and utilize the system, otherwise you run the risk of lower user adoption and expensive mistakes that will affect the overall value and success of your ERP project. Epicor training is not easy, but the publishers have done an outstanding job of providing Epicor users with helpful and easy to use educational tools. In a recent article we went over Epicor University as a learning resource for your organization, today we will touch on another one of Epicor’s educational resources, Epicor Knowledge Mentor (EKM).
You invest weeks, maybe months of your time evaluating ERP software in the hopes of finding the right product. And maybe you do find the right solution but what’s often more important is the knowledge you need to implement and to use it effectively today and for many years to come as your business evolves and you grow into more advanced features.
I just returned from Epicor Insights customer conference in Nashville, TN and was completely blown away by Epicor’s new and innovative approach to ERP implementations. Epicor has long been the leading provider of discrete manufacturing ERP and has added several new tools that make it easier for manufacturers in specific industries to implement, optimize, and utilize Epicor 10 ERP.
Advanced Planning and Scheduling software (APS) is often a core module within many larger ERP business applications, but sometimes, manufacturers require specialized APS software to manage their specific business needs. This article highlights the embedded APS capabilities within the four ERP products available from e2b teknologies (Epicor ERP, Sage ERP X3, Sage 100 ERP, and Sage 500 ERP) with an overview of third party solutions available for advanced or specialized APS capabilities. It also provides a summary of some of the major features and benefits of implementing APS software. Continue reading
Selecting software for accounting and financial management can be difficult since there are so many options available today. There are many great financial software applications available from traditional ERP software vendors such as Microsoft Dynamics, Sage Software, Infor, and literally dozens of vendors. There are also niche and vertical accounting software publishers who specialize in small industry segments providing deep vertical functionality. Continue reading
e2b teknologies provides Sage 100 ERP consulting services for users of Sage 100 ERP (fka Sage MAS 90 and Sage MAS 200) in the Cleveland, OH area including suburbs such as Willoughby, Euclid, Lakewood, Parma, North Olmsted, Shaker Heights, Wickliffe, Mayfield Heights, Solon, Mentor, Painesville, Chardon, Lorain, Elyria, Strongsville, Twinsburg, Aurora, Kent, Hudson, Brunswick, Medina, and other Ohio cities such as Akron, Canton, Youngstown Toledo, and more. The Sage 500 MRP (or Material Requirements Planning) module was originally designed for manufacturers but it can be very useful for wholesale distributors since the Inventory Replenishment system has similar functionality for planning purchase orders but is not time-phased. Further, MRP has a lot more functionality around planning than release orders within the replenishment system. For this reason, Sage licenses companies for both Inventory Replenishment and MRP when they buy one or the other. Continue reading
The first electronic data interchange (EDI) solution available for Sage 500 was eBridge Software, which was available through Sage as an endorsed solution. It is still available today for Sage 500 but was replaced by TrueCommerce, created by HighJump software, which is the current endorsed EDI solution available from Sage.
Sage 500 ERP has advanced pick, pack, and ship capabilities, but it has never provided native shipment tracking capabilities. V-Technologies, publishers of StarShip, used to be the preferred vendor for Sage 500 customers. StarShip is still integrated with Sage 500 ERP and is a very popular option for most businesses that need shipping & receiving capabilities in their ERP system. It is also still the preferred solution for many Sage 500 business partners due to its simple design and advanced capabilities. Continue reading
